Three Rajshahi BNP leaders granted bail in sedition case

Three Rajshahi BNP leaders have been granted bail in a sedition case.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge AHM Elias Hossayn granted them bail on Sunday noon.
The three leaders are BNP Chairperson's adviser and former Rajshahi City mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu, Rajshahi City BNP president Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and general secretary Shafiqul Huque Milon.
The three accused BNP leaders surrendered before the court at about 1:30pm on Sunday in front of the Metropolitan Sessions Judges Court. Earlier, the defendants' lawyer Ali Ashraf had filed a bail petition with the court. Upon hearing the arguments, the judge granted them bail.
The sedition case was filed by Mosabbirul Islam, legal affairs secretary of Rajshahi City Awami League against Mizanur Rahman Minu, Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, Shafiqul Huque Milon and BNP's organising secretary Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu with the Rajshahi Metropolitan Chief Magistrate's Court 2 on March 16 last over BNP leader Minu's alleged threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a rally of BNP delegates in Rajshahi on March 2.
The Rajshahi City Awami League also filed a prayer to the deputy commissioner and the district magistrate seeking permission to lodge the sedition case.
On March 9, the deputy commissioner's office sent the application to the Home Ministry.
Following approval of this application on March 15, the court took cognizance of the case.
On March 31, Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful islam issued arrest warrants against the three accused. After five months, except Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, Minu, Bulbul and Milon received bail from the High Court on August 26.
Later on Sunday, they took bail from the Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court.
