Prothom Alo senior reporter Rozina Islam has been taken to Kashimpur Women Jail in Gazipur after a Dhaka court rejected a remand prayer against her.

Shahbag Police Station inspector Arifur Rahman on Tuesday morning filed a petition to the court seeking five-day remand for the journalist after producing her before it.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jashim  ordered to send Rozina to jail and set Thursday (May 20) for hearing on her bail plea.

Dhaka CMM Court's SI Shahidul Islam said Rozina was first taken to the court hajat after her remand prayer was rejected.

She was then sent to the Kashimpur Women Jail by a prison van, Islam added.

Rozina Islam was detained on Monday night on charge of “stealing” government documents and taking photographs of them on her mobile phone without due permission.

Hours after detention, Rozina was handed over to Shahbagh Police Station around 8:30 pm.

Deputy Secretary of Health Services Shibbir Ahmed then filed a case against her under the Official Secrets Act.
