Journalists decide to boycott Health Ministry briefing

Journalists have decided to boycott a press conference of the Health Ministry scheduled for Tuesday morning protesting arrest of Prothom Alo senior reporter Rozina Islam.

A press release of Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters' Forum (BSRF), signed by its general secretary Shamim Ahmed, confirmed the matter this morning.

The release said the journalists will boycott the press conference, scheduled to be held at 11am, for harassing and arrest of BSRF and BHRF's member Rozina Islma.

The senior journalist was detained on Monday for taking pictures of some official documents of The Health Ministry at the Secretariat without due permission.

Hours after detention, Rozina was handed over to Shahbagh Police Station around 8:30 pm.

A case was filed at night against her under the Official Secrets Act.
