Music director Farid Ahmed dies of COVID-19

National Award winning music director Farid Ahmed passed away at a hospital in the capital on Tuesday morning.
He died at about 9:30am at Square Hospital where he was on life support from April 11, his youngest daughter Liyana Farid confirmed.
The musician had tested positive for deadly coronavirus on March 25. He was shifted to the intensive care unit of the hospital the same day from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital as condition deteriorated.
He left behind wife Shiuly Akhter, his daughter Durdana Farid and a host of relatives and well-wisher to mourn his deaths.
Farid Ahmed won the National Film Award in 2017 as the music director in the film 'Tumi Robe Nirobe'. In his esteemed career, he is known for creating many remarkable theme songs for popular television shows including the immensely popular title song "Keu Keu Obiraam Chupi Chupi" for Ityadi, as well as the title tracks of Hridoye Mati O Manush and Channel-i Shera Kontho, to name a few.
