A female student of a private university was beat up by her rivals over land dispute at Harikumaria area in Madaripur on Sunday.

The victim is now undergoing treatment at Madaripur Sadar Hospital.

According to locals Ali Nur Bepari, one resident of the area, had been at loggerheads with his neighbour Manik Hawlader over land dispute for a long time. As sequel to it, supporters of Manik at noon beat the victim when she confronted the attack on his father.

The victim, a student of a private university in Dhaka, said, “There are two roads which pass through our land. Manik and his supporters started to beat my father when he refused to allow another road there as per their demand. They also beat me with an iron rod when I protested the attack.”
