Refund people's money or face jail: HC to defaulters

"You withdrew people's money. But, those deposited money to People's Leasing and Financial Services (PLFS) are now roaming in streets with empty stomach.The money of PLFS belongs to people, not to thieves and thugs. Pay the money first and then talk. Otherwise you will be sent to jail."

The High Court's company bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar expressed anger towards the loan defaulters and their counsels on Thursday during a hearing of PLFS loan defaulters after they appeared before it.

On January 21, the HC summoned 280 individuals, who took loans amounting Tk 1,655 crore, ranging from Tk 5 lakh to over Tk 200 crore, to appear before it on February 23 and 25.

Of them, 137 individuals are to appear before the court today, the second day of appearance in the case.





Earlier on February 23,  143 individuals appeared on the first day.
