Two held for killing man during robbery in bus
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) have arrested two suspected members of inter-district robber gang in a case filed over murder of a hotel owner in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka.
Arrested Aslam, 32, and Titu Mia, 28, were the residents of Ghior Police Station area in Manikganj district.
PBI Dhaka district police arrested them from the area at early hours on Tuesday.
Investigation officer of the case Sub-inspector (SI) Saleh Imran said during initial interrogation, they confessed to their involvement with the robbery.
Earlier on October 5 last year, Rabiul Islam Laskar, a hotel owner of Dhaka's Mirpur, went to Savar to meet his nephew.
Later, his body was recovered from a jungle in Baliyarpur of Hemayetpur beside Jamuna Natural Park.
Deceased’s wife Hafiza Begum filed a case with Savar Model Police Station in this connection.
Using mobile technology, PBI arrested Basir Mallik, the leader of a robber gang, on October 13 last year.
Gleaning information from him, police arrested eight more robbers from Savar, Ashulia, Dhamrai and Demra of Dhaka.
SI Saleh Imran said the arrested robbers killed Rabiul by hitting him with a wheel wrench while committing robbery in a bus.
Most of the arrested are driver and assistant of the bus. They used to commit robbery in different areas of Dhaka by renting buses of different routes, and changing their stickers and name.
