First Navy chief captain Nurul Haque dies

Country's first Navy chief captain Nurul Haque (retd) died at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka on Monday night. He was 86.

He had been suffering from high blood pressure and diabetics problem for a long time.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday.

Friends and members of the Navy expressed condolences over his death.

He will be buried at Banani Military Graveyard after namaz-e-janaza at the Naval Headquarters Masjid after Zuhr prayers following proper coronavirus health guidelines.

Nurul Haque, born in February 24, 1922, in Sylhet's Habiganj, was performed his duty as naval chief from 1972-1973.

He received naval professional training in BRNC, Darthmouth, HMS Triumph and HMS Eagle from September 1954. Capt. Nurul was commissioned in the UK on January 1, 1957. He did his Basic Engineering Course and Marine Engineering Specialisation Course from Royal Naval engineering College, UK in 1958 and 1961 respectively.
