Police charge batons on anti-sculpture procession

Police on Friday afternoon dispersed  an anti-sculpture procession in Paltan area after charging batons.

A large number of police have been deployed in the area to fend off any unrest.

A group of devotees brought out a procession from in front of the North gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Jum'a prayer.

They tried to proceed toward the Paltan crossing after breaking police barricade around 2:15pm.

Being obstructed by police, the processionists pelted brick bats to the law enforcers forcing police to use truncheons on them.

Confirming the matter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Motijheel Zone Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) Enamul Haque Mithu said the organisers of the procession could not be identified yet
