7 Myanmar citizens held with around 3 lakh Yaba tablets in Teknaf

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard have detained seven Myanmar nationals alongwith 2.80 lakh Yaba pills from a trawler in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar.

Lt Commander Amirul Haque, Station Officer of Teknaf Coastguard, confirmed the matter around 10am on Wednesday.

He said on information that a big consignment of Yaba pills was smuggling to Cox's Bazar from Myanmar, a team of the Coast Guard conducted a drive in the Bay around 12:30am.

Sensing presence of the team, the smugglers threw brick chips to the team members.

During a chase, the Coast Guard members seized the trawler and detained the seven with the Yaba tablets warped with plastic inside a drum.
