BDCSO Process calls int’l agencies to ensure transparency

The BDCSO Process, a forum of around 700 NGOs and civil society organizations, on Monday released its declaration urging transparency in case of international humanitarian and development assistance.
The declaration, which was revealed on Monday though a virtual press conference, was adopted in three-day virtual conference with 22-point demands organized in Dhaka on October 6, 8 and 10. About700 participants from home and abroad joined the conference.
The declaration asked all international agencies to limit their role in monitoring and technical assistance only and handover the project implementation to local actors and shun luxury of the international agencies in this regard.
BDCSO Process national Coordinator Rezaul Karim Chowdhury conducted conference while COAST Trust director Mustafa Kamal Akhanda, Parveen Akhter from Pabna, Khandker Farooque Ahmed from Mymensingh, Akbar Hossain from Rangpur, Arifur Rahman from Chattogram, Rahima Sultana Kazal, and Anwar Zahid from Barisal, spoke.
Speakers urged the agencies to ensure full transparency of their funding process and to make these free from conflict of interest.
