![]() Narsingdi's Raipura Upazila BCL president held in rape case A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was arrested by police in Narsingdi on Friday on rape charge. Raipura Upazila BCL president Asadul Huque Chowdhury Shakil, who was expelled by the organisation, was arrested for allegedly raping a school girl at Rajiuddin Stadium in Raipura of Narsingdi district. He was arrested from a restaurant at Brahmanbaria early Friday afternoon. The rape case accused BCL president Asadul Huque Chowdhury Shakil is the son of former headmaster of Pahartali Kalim Uddin High School and Raipura Upazila Awami League leader Aminul Huque Chowdhury. Raipura Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohsinul Kadir said acting on a tip-off and with the help of the victim girl, police arrested Shakil from a restaurant adjacent to the Biswa Road under Sarail upazila in Brahmanbaria district early Friday afternoon. The case statement reads that Shakil had a love affair with the school girl over six months. When the girl insisted him to marry her, Shakil called in the girl in the evening on October 22 and took her to Government Raju Auditorium at Srirampur. However, the girl was sent back to her home. Later, at about 10:00pm on the same day, Shakil called in the girl and took her to the auditorium where he allegedly raped the girl with the help of caretaker Sumon. Sensing the rape incident inside the auditorium, the locals surrounded it. However, Shakil managed to escape leaving the girl at the auditorium. Receiving information, police went to the auditorium and rescued the victimised girl. Police arrested auditorium's caretaker Sumon. On the following day, police sent the girl to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for medical test. On Friday afternoon, the girl filed a rape case against Shakil with Raipura police station. Later, Shakil was expelled from the BCL for violating the organisation's discipline. SZA |
