Vanishing of kidney: Four BSMMU doctors sued after two years

A murder case was filed against for surgeons including Professor Dr Habibur Rahman (Dulal) of the Department of Urology of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Friday two years after the death of a female patient following the removal of her two kidneys, instead of one.

Other accused are Assistant Professor Dr Faruque Hossain, Dr Mostafa Kamal and Dr Al Mamun.

Film director Rafique Sikder, son of the victim filed the case. Police said they are trying to arrest the accused.

The case statement reads: Rafique Sikder admitted her mother Rowshan Ara to the Department of Urology of the BSMMU on July 1, 2018 with infection in a kidney of her.

After the treatment, she was released from the hospital. During the follow-up treatment, Rafique Sikder was told that it became necessary to remover his mother's left kidney through surgical procedures. Later, he admitted his mother to the hospital and the left kidney was removed through operation on September 5.
