Vanishing of kidney: Four BSMMU doctors sued after two years |
![]() A murder case was filed against for surgeons including Professor Dr Habibur Rahman (Dulal) of the Department of Urology of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Friday two years after the death of a female patient following the removal of her two kidneys, instead of one. Other accused are Assistant Professor Dr Faruque Hossain, Dr Mostafa Kamal and Dr Al Mamun. Film director Rafique Sikder, son of the victim filed the case. Police said they are trying to arrest the accused. ![]() After the treatment, she was released from the hospital. During the follow-up treatment, Rafique Sikder was told that it became necessary to remover his mother's left kidney through surgical procedures. Later, he admitted his mother to the hospital and the left kidney was removed through operation on September 5. As Rowshan Ara's condition deteriorated, his son took her to a private hospital. After examination, the son learned that the right kidney of her mother went vanished. Though the accused urologist claimed during the operation that his mother's right kidney was not functioning, he removed it silently and did not inform the attendant of the patient about it. SZA |
