Nonstop transport strike called in Rajshahi

Rajshahi Division Transport Owners Association has called an indefinite strike in eight districts of the division from November 1 to press home for their eight-point demand.

Association president Shafkat Manjur informed this on Sunday.

The main demand is stop operating BRTC bus on upazila routes.

According to sources, the decision was taken at meetings held in Rajshahi and Bogura on Saturday.

Association leaders said they are facing passenger crisis as BRTC started operating its bus service in Rajshahi, Bogura and Joypurhat.

They said BRTC buses are supposed to ply from depot to depot and on highway.

But, the buses are now being operating in upazila level.
