Palash upazila chairman asked to submit wealth info

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has investigated against Palash Upazila Parishad chairman Syed Jabed Hossain, his wife Sabikun Nahar and son Syed Zarif Hossain over allegations of amassing illegal wealth.
Regarding this allegation on September 15, ACC assistant director Md Abdus Salam Ali Mollasent a letter to the 18 banks asking to provide details of their assets. The letter also directed to provide information by October 4.
According to the allegations, Syed Jabed Hossain has accumulated illegal wealth through mazar syndicate, drug trade, land grabbing, extortion, tendering and making syndicates in shrimp farms and jute business.
The letter also brought allegation over lifting and selling sand, stones and grabbing rivers and government lands.
Kamal Hossain, a businessman from Palash Hospital Road alleged that Syed Jabed Hossain built an empire using his party identity.
Jabed Hossin’s wife allegedly controls recruitment and shopping in the upazila, and his son runs extortion and drug business, Kamal Hossain said and added that many leaders of Narsingdi district Awami League have been the victims of false cases and attacks while speak against him.
