Three held for illegally catching fish in Bagerhat


Three fishermen were detained for illegally catching fishes from a canal in Bagerhat district after poisoning water.

The detainees are Bellal Dhali, 40, Manirul Dhali, 42, and Masum Dhali, 35, residents of Dakop upazila in Khulna district.

Muhammad Belayet Hossain, divisional forest officer (DFO-East) of Sundarbans, said Sundarbans’ Chadpai rangers on Monday morning spotted a dinghy boat in Charakhali canal, where fishing is banned.





Later, they detained the trio and recovered 12 kg fish, a bottle of poison and three machetes.

A case has been filed agains the detainees under the Forest Act.
