Attorney General's body to be taken on SC premises from Bailey Road

The body of Attorney General Mahbubey Alam will be taken on Supreme Court premises from Bailey Road Ministers' Apartment on Monday morning.
There his namaj-e-janaza will be held at SC Gardens at 12noon, SC lawyer Adv AM Amin Uddin confirmed.
Mahbubey Alam's body was brought to his Bailey Road residence at 8:30am from Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
The top law officer died at 7:25 pm on Sunday at the CMH where he was on ventilation after developed a lung infection.
Alam was hospitalised on September 4 with high fever and, later, tested positive for COVID-19. He had been shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after his condition deteriorated on September 18.
He left behind wife, a daughter, a son and host of relatives and well-wisher to mourn his death.
He will be laid to eternal rest at the Intellectuals Graveyard in Mirpur.
Mahbubey Alam was the longest serving attorney general or the top law officer of the country since his appointment in 2009.
He was born at Mochamodra village under Louhajang upazila in Munshiganj district on February 1, 1949. A former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Alam began practising law in 1975.
He also played a key role in a number of crucial cases, including those involving the Fifth, Seventh, 13th and 16th Amendment to the constitution.
Mahbubey Alam was involved in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman murder case.
