DGHS driver Malek on 14-day remand

A Dhaka court on Monday placed Abdul Malek, driver of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on a 14-day remand in two separate cases filed earlier.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam gave the remand order rejecting bail petition of Malek.
His lawyer filed a petition seeking the bail of Malek.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday night arrested Abdul Malek, 63, with a foreign made pistol from Kamarpara area under Turag Police Station on charges of forged banknote business and extortion.
Later this morning, they lodged the cases under the Arms and the Special Powers Acts with Turar Police Station this morning.
