Country reports 26 more deaths from COVID-19

Bangladesh on Sunday reported 26 more deaths and 1,544 fresh cases from coronavirus.
With the new figures, the country's death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 4,939 and the cases at 3,48,916.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, 2,179 more corona patients made recovery in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,56,565.
In the last 24 hours, 94 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 10,787 samples and tested 11,591.
Till now, a total of 18,21,270 samples were tested in the country.
Among the newly deceased, 17 were men and the rest nine were women. Of them, 19 in Dhaka, four in Chattogram, one in Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur divisions respectively.
As of today, a total of 3,846 men (77.87 per cent) and 1,093 women (22.13 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
The latest day's infection rate is 13.32 per cent, compared to the sample tested, while the overall infection rate is 19.16.
On the other hand, the recovery rate is 73.53 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.42 per cent.
