Ferry operations on Shimulia-Kanthalbari route resumed on Sunday morning which was suspended from Thursday.

A ferry left Shimulia ghat for Kathalbari through new China channel around 7:30am.

Mawa traffic police inspector Helal Uddin said the ferry services have resumed in limited scale with the help of four to five small ferries. But Ro-Ro ferries are yet not resume.

BIWTC gave permission of resuming the ferry operations as the channel became normal.

Vehicles were seen few in number at the ghats following disruption of the ferries many times.

Plying of ferries on the route have been disrupted over the last several months due to poor navigability and strong current in the river.
