8 suspended Titas staff arrested over N'ganj mosque explosion
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested eight suspended officials and employees of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd in a case filed over Narayanganj mosque explosion
Mainul Hasan, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of CID, confirmed the arrest news at a press conference on Saturday.
"We will plea for their remand for interrogation," the DIG added.
Earlier, the eight have been suspended for their negligence over the Narayanganj mosque explosion incident.
The suspended eight staff are: Titas's Fatulla zone manager M Sirajul Islam, deputy manager Mahmudur Rahman Rabbi, assistant engineers SM Hasan Shahriar and Manik Mia, senior superviser Monibur Rahman Chowdhury, M Aiyub Ali, Hanif Mia and Ismail Pradhan.
On September 4, a massive explosion took place at the Baitus Salat Jame Mosque in Paschim Talla area which left 33 people dead so far.
Meanwhile, three separate probe bodies were formed by Fire Service and Civil Defence, Titas Gas authorities and the district administration to probe the incident.
