Allama Shafi's janaza at Hathazari this afternoon
The namaj-e-janaza of Hefajat-e Islam ameer and noted alem Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday at the Hathazari Madrasa premises in Chattogram.
Later, he will be buried at the madrasa's graveyard.
Moulana Anas Madani, son of Allama Shafi, disclosed it to journalists at about 8:45pm on Friday.
Allama Shafi died on Friday evening while undergoing treatment at Asgar Ali Hospital, Gendaria in Dhaka. Later, his body was taken to Faridabad Madrasa.
Moulana Anas Madani, who has just been expelled from Hathazari Madrasa, said his father advocated for a single janaza throughout his life, because Quran and Hadith support it. "So, only one janaza of my father will be held. According to his last wishes, my father will be buried at Hathazari Madrasa graveyard."
He also sought blessings of the countrymen for his father. On behalf of his family, Anas Madani also sought apology to the countrymen if his father had hurt anyone's feelings during his lifetime.
Meanwhile, hundreds of alems, ulemas and madrasa students rushed to Asgar Ali Hospital and Faridabad Madrasa hearing the news of death of Allama Shafi. They thronged there to have a last glimpse of Allama Shafi's face.
On the other hand, President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and other leaders have expressed their profound shock at the death of Allama Shafi.
