Rajshahi flyover likely to be opened in October
The first flyover in Rajshahi city is likely to be opened to traffic in October as the construction works are at the final stage.
According to Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), the construction work of the Tk 189.34 crore connecting road from Rajshahi-Naogaon main road to Mohonpur-Rajshahi-Natore road are progressing fast. The road will establish a direct link between the east and west sides of the city.
Under the project, a 6.793-kilometer east-west four-lane connecting road is being constructed from Alif-Lam-Meem Bhatar crossing to Chouddapaya, Rajshahi-Natore road via Chhoto Banagram, Meherchandi, Budhpara and Mohonpur.
RCC chief engineer Khandkar Khairul Bashar informed the 202.5-meter flyover along with a 120-meter ramp is being constructed at a cost of Tk 29.28 crore.
Besides, works on footpaths on both sides of the road, a bridge, eight culverts, median and traffic infrastructures have already been completed.
He also said that the Mayor will fix the date of opening the flyover.
Meanwhile, Project Director Golam Morshed informed the project is completed in December.
But, 98 percent works have already been done.
