2 fish traders jailed for selling carp fish

Two fish traders in Manikganj's Sadar upazila have been jailed for 15 days for selling carp fishes washed away from various ponds during flood.

The upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) and executive magistrate Md Iqbal Hossain handed down the verdict on Tuesday morning.

The jailed fishermen are: Krshna Rajbangshi and Ashish Rajbangshi, residents of Nabagram village in the upazila.

UNO Iqbal said fishes of hundreds of ponds in the district were washed away by the flood water.

On information that some dishonest traders have been catching the carp fishes and selling those in markets, the mobile court conducted a drive at Beukha and Nayakandi Bazar, caught them red handed and jailed them, he added.
