Ramgati villages flooded in high tide
The low lying char lands in Laxmipur's Ramgati upazila were flooded as the water of the Meghna River increased more than five to seven feet than normal tide due to the effect of depression.
As a result, Bayarchar, Char Laxmi, Borokheri, Char Ramij, Raghunathpur, Char Mehar, Char Abdullah, Telirchar, Char Gosai, Char Algi, Uttar Sebagram, Sabujgram, Sujonnagar and some ares of Charthua were inundated.
Educational institutions, markets and haat areas,mosques hundreds of living houses, farming lands and fishing projects were washed away by the high tide.
Meanwhile, the wife and son of Abdullah of Uttar Sebagram were injured when their house collapsed due to the high tide.
Besides, some houses located on the bank of Meghna River and some places of the embankment were damaged in the tide, our local correspondent said.
