Although the country marked a rise in coronavirus infections during Eid-ul-Azha, the health sector has a capacity to tackle the situation, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque.
The minister came up with the remarks at a media briefing after expressing the post-eid greetings at his Ministry's conference room at the Secretariat on Monday.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is being praised across the world for being able to significantly reduce mortality rate in Bangladesh considering a densely populated country,” he said.
"Europe and America are being criticised worldwide. And even neighbouring India is struggling to cope with coronavirus. Apart from around 50,000 cases daily, India also records many deaths. But, in our country, the mortality rate is now 1.31 percent. Besides, the number of infections is also reducing day by day,” Zahid Maleque added.
Regarding the coronavirus vaccine, he said many countries are on way to invent the vaccine. And, some countries even at the third stage of test. The government is active to get the vaccine on priority basis.
