The peak period of deadly novel coronavirus pandemic in Dhaka city has already over, says Prof Dr Bijon Kumar Sil, lead virology scientist of Gono Biswavidyalya.
"People won't be infected with coronavirus in the capital anymore if we don't commit mistakes. The number of infected cases will gradually decline," he said.
In an interview with a private television channel on Thursday, Prof Dr Bijon Kumar Sil, who invented Ganoshansthya Kendra's Rapid Test Kit, a patient who has already been infected with coronavirus is unlikely to be infected for the second time.
According to the virologist, if someone in a family is infected with coronavirus, other members in that family also develop anti-body.
He suggested to conduct anti-body tests as quickly as possible to know the real scenario.
Prof Dr Bijon Kumar Sil also felt the necessity of a study to determine what percentage of the population has developed anti-body. "We'll have to design our plan on the basis of it," he said.
He is also hopeful about the prospects of the anti-body and antigen kitts developed by Ganashasthya Kendra. "I'm also hopeful of receiving approval of it, because it is already giving 97 per cent accurate results," he said.
