Bangladesh's COVID-19 death toll rose to 2,197 on Wednesday as 46 more died of the virus infection in last 24 hours.
On the other hand, cases reached 1,72,134 while the recovery number stood at 80,838.
Of the dead, 38 were male and eight were female.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana confirmed the figure at the daily bulletin this afternoon.
She requested all to use masks outdoor, maintain social distancing and avoid public gatherings to keep safe himself/herself and also the families.
International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDRB) has set up one more laboratory for coronavirus test under their own management. With this, total 75 labs are used in the country for the virus test, Dr Nasima informed.
In the past 24 hours, 15,672 samples have been tested across the country where 3,489 found positive for the deadly virus.
During this period, 2,736 more COVID-19 patients have recovered.
The current death rate is 1.28 per cent and the infection rate is 22.26 percent.
