2 die of COVID-19, families do not receive bodies
Two persons died from coronavirus at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in last 24 hours till Sunday morning.
One of them died around 10 am on Sunday and other died at midnight on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman, 55, son of Moaz Ali of Charghat upazila, and Azad Ali, 30, of Jamgram village in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon.
However, relatives of the deceased did not come to collect the bodies.
The RMCH's Deputy Director Dr Saiful Ferdous said Habibur Rahman was admitted to ward 29 on Saturday due to increased respiratory problems. He died around 10 am.
Dr. Saiful said his relatives were with Habibur Rahman when he was admitted to the hospital. However, none of them were seen after the death. Family members were informed but no one came to receive the body.
The body has been donated to the Quantum Foundation. The hospital official also said that they would bury the body as unclaimed.
Azad Ali died at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital around 1.30pm on Saturday. His brothers and sisters-in-law were present when he was admitted. They were not found after the death.
They also switched off their mobile phones. The body remained in the hospital till half past noon on Sunday. Azad Ali's body was later donated to the Quantum Foundation for burial.
