42 deaths, 3,114 cases in last 24 hrs

Bangladesh on Friday reported 42 more deaths from coronavirus and 3,114 fresh cases in last 24 hours.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana confirmed the matter at the daily health bulletin in the afternoon.
With the new figure in last 24 hours, the total deaths reached 1,968 and the virus cases surged to 1,56,391.
Among the deceased, 32 were males and 10 females. The highest number of 18 deaths in the timeline reported in Dhaka division, 10 in Chattogram, four in Rangpur, three in Rajshahi, Khulna and Sylhet each, and one in Barishal division.
Dr Nasima said 63 coronavirus testing laboratories, out of 71, across the country tested 14,650 samples where 3,114 found positive for the deadly virus.
Meanwhile, 1,606 more coronavirus patients made recovery during this period, taking the total number of recovery to 68,048.
The recovery rate from Covid-19 in Bangladesh is 43.51 per cent and death 1.26 per cent.
Coronavirus cases were first reported in China in December last year while Bangladesh reported its first case on March 8 this year.
