Globe Biotech wants clinical trial of homegrown vaccine

When the world is racing to create the first coronavirus vaccine, Globe Biotech Limited, an associate concern of Globe pharmaceuticals, claimed to have successfully developed a vaccine to contain coronavirus (Covid-19) for the first time in Bangladesh.
Globe Biotech came up with its claim in a press briefing on Thursday.
In the briefing, it informed that during initial animal trial of the vaccine, it was found producing antibody. The company called it a "significant breakthrough."
"In the second phase, the animal model trial of the vaccine will be held which will take 6-8 weeks.After that human trial can be started.
The company will seek government approval for clinical trial of the vaccine," Dr Asif Mahmud, Chief of Research and Development Department of Globe Biotech Ltd.
Earlier on Wednesday, Globe Biotech in a press release came up with its claim about the invention of coronavirus vaccine for the first time in Bangladesh.
Globe Biotech Chairman M Harunur Rashid, who was also present in the briefing, urged full government cooperation in testing the effectiveness of the vaccine that developed by the domestic researchers.
