Housewife gangraped in Noakhali even after paying extortion
A housewife was reportedly gangraped at Kabirhat upazila in Noakhali district even after paying the extortion for her husband demanded by two society leaders.
The victim lodged a case with Kabirhat Police Station in this regard on Saturday afternoon.
According to the case, the victim along with her husband went to a relative's house at village Purba Naba on June 3.
At about 9.00pm, six to seven people led by local 'Samaj Committee' president Abdus Sattar and general secretary Abul Kalam went to the victim's relative's house, and suddenly wanted to see the marriage documents of the couple claiming their relationship 'illegal' on false grounds.
At one stage, they picked up the couple to a nearby area and demanded huge amount of extortion from them. The victim later phoned his cousin and paid them Tk 35,000 cash and signed in a stamp to pay more Tk 25,000.
Sattar took the victim to his house assuring her to give safety beating her husband and cousin.
The victim in the case statement alleged Sattar handed over her to five to six people after midnight making fake assurance to hand over her to his husband and cousin. Later, they took the victim to a nearby garden, violated her there and left her unconscious in front of a shop in the area.
Kabirhat Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mirza Mohammad Hasan said the victim lodged a case against seven people.
