COVID-19 infected Jashore doctor flown in Dhaka
A doctor infected with the coronavirus has been flown to Dhaka from Jashore’s Chowgacha upazila by a helicopter.
A special helicopter flown Dr Nahid Siraj of the Chowgacha Upazila Health Complex in Dhaka on Friday night. Jashore district civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Abu Shaheen confirmed the matter.
The doctor was found positive for the coronavirus on May 4 but tested negative on May 30.
According to sources, Dr Nahid was hospitallised at Jashore 250-Bed Hospital with respiratory problems on June 1 but his condition deteriorated further.
The doctor phoned upazila niirbahi officer Jahidul Islam on Friday afternoon and informed his health condition.
Later, the UNO discussed the matter with Jashore-2 seat MP freedom fighter Dr Nasir Uddin and deputy commissioner Mohammad Shafiul Arif. Then the decision of shifting the doctor to Dhaka for advance treatment was finalized.
