The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police seized a white Range Rover car of Dipu Haque Sikder and Ron Haque Sikder, which was allegedly used to take the Exim Bank Managing Director to the Sikder House in Banani.
The DB seized the car, a white Range Rover, registered Dhaka Metro-Gha-18-3965, from Sikder
House on Banani Road No 11.
The car was mentioned in the case filed against the Sikder brothers on May 19.
"We are trying to arrest the accused and are continuing our investigation. We will send alerts to all the land ports and airports in the country about their arrest warrants," police sources said.
The DB police has been tasked with investigating the case against Ron Haque Sikder, director of National Bank, and his brother Dipu Haque Sikder case.
DB's Deputy Commissioner (North) Moshiur Rahman confirmed the development on Wednesday.
Former army officer Serajul Islam, a director of Exim Bank, lodged a case against Ron and Dipu with Gulshan police on May 19, saying they had abducted bank's Managing Director Mohammed Haider Ali Miah and Additional Managing Director Mohammad Feroz Hossain and their two chauffeurs.
But the brothers left the country for Thailand by an air ambulance less than a week later on May 25.
The charges also include firing a gun in an attempt to murder and forcing Haider and Feroz into signing documents.
NBL has denied the charges. It levelled countercharges against Exim Bank, saying one of the Exim directors had taken loans from NBL and tried to borrow more through illegal means. The case against the Sikder brothers aims to belittle them, it added.
The two brothers later left Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport for Bangkok on May 25 by an air ambulance of R&R Aviation, a company owned by Sikder Group.
