127 more infected with coronavirus in 5 dists
A total of 127 more people were infected with coronavirus in five districts- Gopalganj, Noakhali, Thakurgaon, Moulvibazar and Bogura, in three days.
GOPALGANJ: Sixteen people have been infected with coronavirus in the district in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.
Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr Niaz Mohammad confirmed the information on Wednesday.
So far, a total of 222 people tested positive for coronavirus in the district while 102 recovered and one died.
Currently, as many as 119 people are undergoing treatment at different hospitals or their respective homes.
NOAKHALI: Some 81 more people including a doctor and a councillor have been infected with coronavirus in the district.
Noakhali CS Office confirmed the information on Tuesday morning.
Among the newly infected cases, 43 are in Begumganj, 31 in Sadar, five in Senbag, one in Subarnachar and Chatkhil each.
So far, 769 people tested positive for the virus here and 17 died.
The upazila-wise break-up of reported coronavirus cases are: 369 in Begumganj, 169 in Sadar, 45 in Chatkhil, 68 in Kabirhat, 47 in Sonaimuri, 36 in Senbag, 21 in Subarnachar, eight in Companiganj, and six in Hatia upazilas.
Sadar Upazila Health Complex Medical Officer and Corona Focal Person Dr Nilima Yasmin said among the newly infected persons with the virus, one is the physician of Noakhali General Hospital, a councillor of Noakhali municipality, and few traders.
Begumganj Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Asim Kumar Das said maximum of the contracted persons are the resident of Chowmuhani Municipality.
THAKURGAON: Eleven more people including two medical staff tested positive for coronavirus in the district on Tuesday, raising the number of coronavirus cases to 112.
Most of the virus cases in the district were recorded in Haripur Upazila.
However, samples of 93 people were collected in the last 24 hours and sent to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital for coronavirus test.
The reports which came on Tuesday found 11 persons positive for the virus.
One person died from coronavirus infection while 25 have, so far, returned home after recovery from the virus.
District CS Md Mahfuzar Rahman Sarker confirmed the matter on Tuesday.
SREEMANGAL, MOULVIBAZAR: Eighteen more people were infected with coronavirus in a single day in Sreemangal Upazila of the district on Monday.
With the new cases, the total number rose to 30 here.
The newly infected people include two family members of Sreemangal Municipal Councillor Abdul Ahad, who died on May 26 from coronavirus infection.
Among others, a physician, nurses and staff of Sreemangal Upazila Health Complex are also included.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Sajjad Hossain Chowdhury said their samples were collected on May 27 and 28 and sent to a corona lab in Dhaka.
The test results which came on Monday found 18 of them positive for the virus.
Of them, Freedom Fighter Bikash Dutta died with coronavirus symptoms on May 27.
Meanwhile, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nazrul Islam said local administration put the houses of the infected persons under lockdown.
NANDIGRAM, BOGURA: Nandigram Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer of the district was infected with coronavirus.
So far, seven persons including a physician infected with the virus in the upazila till Monday while two were recovered from the disease.
On Monday night, the health officer's test result came from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where he found positive for the deadly virus.
