The High Court (HC) on Monday ordered authorities concerned to give priority to expecting mothers for coronavirus diagnosis at all the clinics and hospitals across the country.
High Court virtual bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order after holding hearing on a plea filed in this regard.
Supreme Court lawyer Md Tanvir Ahmed filed the writ and also moved it before the court himself. Additional attorney general Murad Reza and deputy attorney general AMit Talukder appeared for the state.
“The court asked the health care providing centres, which conduct coronavirus diagnosis, to test samples of expecting mothers on priority basis,” Advocate Tanvir Ahmed said.
The pleader filed the writ yesterday, making health secretary, women and children affairs secretary, director general of Directorate General of Health Services, director general of IEDCR, registrar of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and director of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital respondents.
