18 more infected with coronavirus in Sreemangal

Eighteen more people were infected with coronavirus  in a single day in Sreemangal upazila of Moulvibazar district on Monday.

With the new cases, the total number rose to 30 here.

The newly infected persons include
two family members of Sreemangal municipality councilor Abdul Ahad, who died on May 26 from coronavirus infection.

Among others, five are physician, nurses and staff of Sreemangal health complex, a businessman and rest others from residents of differet areas in the upazila.

The upazila health and family planning officer Dr Sajjad Hossain Chowdhury said their samples were collected on May 27 and 28 and sent to a corona lab in Dhaka.

The test results which came on Monday found 18 of them positive for the virus.

Of them, freedom fighter Bikash Dutta died with coronavirus-like symptoms on May 27.

Meanwhile, UNO Nazrul Islam said local administration put the houses of the infected persons under lockdown.
