Record 40 die in Bangladesh in one day

Bangladesh saw record single-day jump of 40 deaths on Sunday, the day over two-month-old lockdown across the country ended.
With the deaths from coronavirus, the total tally rose to 650.
At the same time, 2,545 fresh confirmed cases were recorded, Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), confirmed the matter in the daily online bulletin on the COVID-19 situation in the afternoon.
Total 47,153 virus cases were reported in the country till today.
Of the deceased, 33 were male and seven were female. Twenty-eight died in Dhaka division, eight in Chattogram division, two in Khulna division, one in Rajshahi division and another died in Rangpur division, said Dr Nasima.
A total of 11,876 samples were tested at 52 labs across the country in the past 24 hours.
Dr Nasima said 10, 187 people, so far, have recovered from the disease.
The number of global coronavirus deaths reached 369,274 on Sunday afternoon while the confirmed cases rose to 6,065,624, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of the Johns Hopkins University.
