Covid-19 recovery rate 21.2pc, death rate 1.37pc in BD

Around 21.2 per cent of confirmed Covid-19 patients in the country have become cured after treatment in different hospitals and taking treatment at home while the death rate is only 1.37 per cent, according to the Directorate General of Health Services statement.
According to the DGHS, a total of 44,608 persons were detected as coronavirus positive in laboratory tests in last 84 days after first detection on March 8 this year. Of the total patients, around 9,375 persons have
recovered from the disease.
During the period, the DGHS and Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) have tested 2,97,054 samples in 50 laboratories across the country. Of those, 44,608 persons were detected as coronavirus positive.
Of the total confirmed patients, 610 persons have died during the period. The death rate is only 1.37 per cent among the confirmed Covid-19 patients, the DGHS statement said.
According to the statement, a total of 158 persons died in last seven days till May 30. Of the total death in last seven days, highest 28 persons died on May 24 and May 30. The number of death was 21 on May 25 and May 26, 22 on May 27, 15 on May 28 and 23 on May 29.
Among the South Asian countries, India scored top in detection and death while Pakistan scored second. A total of 180,621 persons were found Covid-19 positive in India while 5,144 persons have died. In Pakistan, the number of total Covid-19 detected persons is 66,457 and death 1,395.
Bangladesh stood third scoring total 44,608 detected confirmed cases while the number of total death is 610. Afghanistan is in fourth position confirming 14,525 cases and 249 deaths. A total of 1,633 cases were detected in Maldives, which stood at fifth position. Five patients have died in the Indian Ocean island state.
In Sri Lanka, total confirmed cases are 1,566 and death is 10, in Nepal confirmed cases are 1,401 and death 6 and in Bhutan number of confirmed cases are only 33 and no death was recorded yet.
