Thirty migrants including 26 Bangladeshis were shot dead by family members of a local human trafficker in Libyan town of Mizda in a revenge attack. The rest four were African nationals.

At the same time, 11 more Bangladeshis were seriously injured, according to a statement from Libya's internationally recognised Government of National Accord (GNA) said on Thursday.

The Libya Observer, the country's English-language newspaper, made the announcement in a post on its Facebook page on Thursday night. This news has also been given on the Facebook page of Libya Expatriate Welfare Forum.

A statement from Libya's Interior Ministry said the alleged trafficker was killed by migrants on Tuesday night. As a result of this incident, the accomplices and relatives of the trafficker fired indiscriminately in the camp of the hostage migrants. A total of 30 people, including 26 Bangladeshis and four Africans, died on the spot.

The Libyan Observer said the slain Bangladeshis were in the custody of the human trafficker in the country's town of Mizda.
