817 sacks of embankment project wheat seized, 3 held in Satkhira
Police have arrested three people at Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira district for allegedly misappropriating 817 sacks of wheat allocated for Food for Work (Kajer Binimoye Khadyo - KaBiKha).
The arrested are Moni-Mukta Rice Mill's owner’s son Monirul Islma Moni, mill manager Mujahidul Islam Mukul and Kaikhali No.6 Ward UP member Pabitra Mandal, residents of Shyamnagar upazila.
Additional superintendent of Satkhira police Mostafizur Rahman said acting on information that wheat of KaBiKha project stored in Moni-Mukta Rice Mill's warehouse, police conducted a drive into the mill on Wednesday evening and seized 817 sacks of wheat worth Tk 14 lakh 88 thousand from there.
Anti-Corruption Commission inspector Neel Kamal on Thursday lodged a case against six people and few other unknown persons with Kaliganj Police Station.
According to sources, the seized wheat sacks were allocated to repair damaged embankment and roads at Ward No.6 in Kaikhali UP which was hit by cyclone Amphan recently.
