Deer rescued from village released in Sundarbans
A deer, which was caught by villagers after it entered a village in Sarankhola upazila from the East Sundarbans, was later released in the Sundarbans on Thursday.
Forest guards rescued the deer from Sonatola village on Thursday afternoon.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of East Sundarbans Division Md Belayet Hossain said the deer entered Madhya Sonatola village under Sarankhola upazila crossing the river Bhola of the Sundarbans at about 3:00pm.
He said witnessing the deer villagers informed the local BTRT and CPG members. Receiving information, they caught the deer with the help of villagers from in fronty of Munshibari in the village and informed the Forest Department.
Later, the forest guards of the Bhola Patrol Outpost rescued the deer and released it in the Sundarbans.
DFO Belayet Hossain said the wild animals from the Sundarbans are easily entering the nearby villages due to build up of sediments on the Bhola river bed.
