Woman, teenager die with coronavirus symptoms in Manikganj
An elderly woman and a teenage boy died with coronavirus symptoms at the isolation ward of Manikganj Sadar Hospital on Tuesday night.
The 60-year old woman was a resident of Saturia upazila while the 16-year-old from Gheor upazila of the district.
The hospital superintendent Dr Arshad Ullah confirmed the matter on Wednesday morning.
The woman was admitted to the hospital with respiratory problems on May 21 and then, shifted to the hospital's isolation ward, Dr Arshad said.
A medical team of the district health department collected her samples on May 22 but the test results did not come yet.
Meanwhile, the teenage boy was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon as he had been suffering from breathing problems.
The boy was shifted to the isolation ward at the night after observing his physical condition where he died around 11:00 pm, said the hospital superintendent.
Meanwhile, Manikganj civil surgeon Dr Anwarul Amin Akhanda said seven people have, so far, died at isolation ward in the district.
A total of six people, including a local journalist, tested positive with coronavirus in Manikganj in the last 24 hours, Dr Anwarul said.
With the new cases, 128 people have, so far, been infected with coronavirus in the district, the civil surgeon added .
