Deputy speaker Fazle Rabbi's wife dies

Deputy speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah's wife Anwara Begum died of old age ailments at a city hospital on Tuesday morning. She was 67.
Anwara Begum breathed her last at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) around 11:30am.
Deputy speaker’s public relations officer Swapan Kumar Biswas confirmed media about the matter.
On May 18, The Deputy Speaker went to his Gaibandha-5 constituency to distribute Eid gifts among poor people. He returned to Dhaka the same day following the news of his wife's sudden sickness.
Anwara Begum was first admitted to Dhaka Central Hospital and then shifted to the CMH on May 19 following deterioration of her condition. Since then, she had been kept on life support there.
Anwara Begum is likely to be buried at Fazle Rabbi Miah’s village home in Saghata upazilla of Gaibandha, Swapan added.
Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Anwara Begum.
In separate condolence messages, the president and prime minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Planning Minister MA Mannan and Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud also mourned her death.
