Gaibandha under lockdown
Gaibandha district was placed under complete lockdown starting from Friday 5:00 pm until further notice to keep the people at home in order to controlling the coronavirus transmission.
Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner (DC) and also district magistrate Abdul Matin confirmed the matter to the Daily Observer this (Friday) afternoon over mobile phone.
During the lockdown, mass gatherings are not allowed while no individual can come out their residences without any emergency issues like purchasing medicine or taking healthcare services from the physicians, the DC mentioned.
Vehicles would not be allowed to enter or exit the district, the DC said, adding that several check-posts have been set up at the entrance points of the district to enforce the lockdown properly.
Hospitals, kitchen markets, medicine shops, media outlets and essential services like electricity, gas, telephone and internet would remain out of the purview of the lockdown, the DC further added.
Civil administration, Bangladesh army, police, and other law enforcement agencies and public representatives were deployed in this regard, the DC termed.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave an instruction on lockdown of Dhaka and Naryayanganj cities and elsewhere in the country where coronavirus infected patients would be found.
DC Abdul Matin also urged the people to stay at home during the lockdown.
