IU suspended two students for Facebook post

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia suspended two students for their derogatory Facebook posts against Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Suspended students are Sanjida Sultana Sondo, Master’s student of Bangla department, and Ashikul Islam Patwary, 4th year student of Arabic Language & Literature department.

IU acting registrar confirmed the matter.

IU Vice Chancellor Dr Rashid Askari issued the suspension order against Sanjida and Patwary as they posted derogatory remarks against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Two bodies were also formed to probe the matter and asked to submit the report within seven days, the VC said.

Further steps will be taken in this regard after getting the report from the body, he added.
