Global coronavirus death toll surpasses 83,000
Coronavirus pandemic have claimed at least 83,471 lives globally so far, Worldometer reports.
According to the Worldometer website data, a total of 1.45 million COVID-19 cases have been reported so far after the virus originated in China's Wuhan. Of them, 3,09,113 have been recovered, while 47, 981 are in critical condition.
The US recorded the highest number of deaths, 1,966 on the previous day.
Italy is at the top of the death toll chart with 17,127 deaths. Spain reported 14,555 and the US 12,857 death cases. In China 3,333 deaths have been reported so far.
Meanwhile, among the affected cases, the US is at the top of the chart with 4,00,549 total cases. Spain and Italy are in the 2nd and 3rd positions with 146,690 and 135,586 cases respectively. On the other hand, the origin country of the virus, China is in the 6th position with 81,802 cases.
In Bangladesh, a total of 218 people have been infected with the virus so far. Of them, 33 got cured and 20 died. During the last 24 hours, 54 new COVID-19 patients have been detected in the country.
