Corona patient rescued in Rajbari, 2 villages on lockdown
Two villages in Rajbari district have been put on complete lockdown after a coronavirus infected female patient came here fleeing Suhrawardy Hospital in Dhaka where she was undergoing treatment.
The 28-year old Sonia was rescued from her husband's home at village Boktarpur under Dadoshi union in Sadar upazila in the district early Wednesday afternoon. Earlier, the police surrounded the home from 3:30am on Wednesday. Police and health workers later admitted Sonia to Rajbari Sadar Hospital isolation centre.
Rajbari sadar police station officer-in-charge Swapan Kumar Mazumder said Sonia fell sick several days ago and went to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment. A medical officer there referred her to Suhrawardy Hospital in Dhaka. She then went Dhaka. As coronavirus was detected in her blood samples, she got admitted to Suhrawardy Hospital where she underwent treatment.
"On Tuesday afternoon, she fled the Suhrawardy Hospital with the help of her husband and came back her husband's home at village Boktarpur under Dadoshi union. Knowing about the incident, police went to the home at about 3pm and surrounded the house. Later, Rajbari District Civil Surgeon and Sadar UNO went to the house and rescued Sonia and her husband Malek Sarder with the help of police. They were later admitted to the isolation centre at Rajbari Sadar Hospital," the OC said.
Civil Surgeon Dr Md Nurul Islam said, "Coronavirus infection has been detectted in Sonia's body. She and husband were rescued and admitted to the Sadar Hospital's isolation centre at about 1:30pm on WEdnesday. They will be given treatment here for the time being. If their physical condition deteriorates, they will be sent to Dhaka again."
Rajbari Sadar UNO Saiduzzaman Khan said village Boktarpur and nearby village Sameshpur have been put on lockdown. Besides, all the roads leading to Sonia's husband's home have been closed with bamboos. Dadoshi union chairman have been requested to form volunteer team and open a hotline number. If any villager of the two villages under lockdown needs food, the members of volunteer team will take food to his or her house instantly after receiving phone call.
