Man dies with corona symptoms in C'nawabganj, union on lockdown



Chapainawabganj: A youth with coronnavirus infection like symptoms died at village Purba Shaheb in Chowdala union under Gomostapur upazila of the district on Monday night.

Following the incident, the entire Choudala union has been brought under lockdown.

The deceased Mozammel, son of late Hashimuddin, went to Singair in Manikganj district to work for harvesting rice. It was for the first time that someone with coronavirus infection like symptoms died in Chapainawabganj district.

It was confirmed additional police super of Gomostapur Circle Zahidur Rahman.

He said 45-year-old Mozammel returned home at about 11am on Monday from Singair upazila in Manikganj district. Mozammel died at about 8:30pm on that day.

On Tuesday morning, three people including the UP chairman were given the responsibility to bury the dead body. They were given PPEs and security bags for covering and buring the dead body.

The family members of late Mozammel were also kept under isolation.

Besides, one Iran, who had accompanied Mozammel, was also kept in isolation. However, no coronavirus infection like symptoms were found in his body.

The additional police super also said Mozammel made himself isolated in a room immediately after returning home. He didn't came out of the room until his death.

Quoting a health worker, he further said Mozammel had fever and throat pain. But, he had no symptoms of coughing or sneezing.

All the roads leading to the Gomostapur upazila have already shut down. Plying of all kinds of motor vehicles, except those carry foodgrains, have also been suspended. Besides, all the unions of Gomostapur upazila would be separated from each other from today (Tuesday).

Gomostapur Upazila Medical Officer Dr Sarwar Jahan said samples of blood from the bodies of two suspected isolated persons would be sent to Dhaka for tests.
