Manikganj union on lockdown after man dies with virus symptoms

Manikganj's Singair upazila administration on Tuesday put Jamirta union under lockdwon as a man with coronavirus symptoms died on Monday night. 

The deceased, 46, was a day labourer. 

Locals and sources in the upazila administration said he along with another man came to the area from Gomastapur upazila of Chapainawabganj district about two weeks ago for agricultural work

The man had been suffering from fever, cold, cough and throat pain since April 1. 

However, they both returned to their village home on Saturday where the man died on Monday night. 

Singair UNO Runa Laila confirmed the matter on Tuesday afternoon. 

Meanwhile, Jamirta union parishad (UP) chairman Abdul Halim said they conducted several campaigns asking people to stay at home. 

UP members and village police have been working to maintain lockdown in the area, he added.





Earlier on Sunday, the upazila administration announced lockdown in Singair municipality area after a man of Tabilg Jamaat, which has recently come to Singair, tested positive for coronavirus. 

Three more men of the jamaat tested positive for the virus on Monday.
